Muhammad Ehatisham Ul Haq
Muhammad Ehatisham Ul Haq is the Technical Director at the Institute for the Sciences of Early Years (ISEY). A senior researcher, educator, and innovator, he specializes in human-centred computing, AI-driven solutions, and multimodal sensing. His work focuses on designing intelligent, context-aware systems that enhance human experiences, well-being, and learning, particularly for young children.
Ehatisham earned his PhD (with distinction) in AI and Machine Learning from UET Taxila, Pakistan, and received Gold Medals for academic and research excellence in both his MS and BS degrees. With expertise in AI and multimodal data processing, he has published 50+ papers in international journals and conferences.
His research spans human activity recognition, stress and emotion detection, environment monitoring, and human-object interactions. By integrating visual, audio, and physiological data, he develops adaptive AI systems that respond to human needs. At ISEY, he leads AI-driven research in early childhood learning and development, exploring how technology can personalize education and enhance cognitive growth. His current projects involve analysing children's interactions with digital media, examining how visual and auditory saliencies influence their attention, engagement, and cognitive responses, and assessing developmental progress. His research provides deep insights into eye-tracking patterns, emotional responses, and neural correlates of attention by studying how children process, react to, and learn from multimedia content.
A dedicated mentor, Ehatisham has supervised numerous PhD and MS students, promoting interdisciplinary research in AI, psychology, and neuroscience. He believes AI should go beyond the lab to improve lives, collaborating with experts to create ethical, inclusive, and impactful solutions in education, healthcare, and everyday life.
