Georgina Harvey

Georgina Harvey was studying for a BSc (Hons) in Psychology at the University of South Wales (USW). She had recently completed a Foundation Degree in Psychology at her local college in partnership with USW. She had previously worked as a childcare practitioner, obtaining a CACHE level 3 diploma and gaining seven years of experience in the early years sector.

In her spare time, Georgina loved to crochet, especially making meaningful and personal gifts that could not be bought in stores. She cherished spending time with her husband and their two young children, often conducting fun educational activities for her children to help them learn through play. She was known for her baking skills, and her family loved her famous chocolate cake. Georgina's biggest passion was learning; she was always seeking new ways to challenge and improve herself while developing new skills.

She volunteered at the University of East London’s Baby Development Laboratory, where she conducted gaze coding for Marta Amado’s research videos, which included mothers and their babies, focusing on attention. Her role involved observing the participants’ gaze for every frame of the video and inputting this data into MATLAB. Marta then collected this data and analyzed it against the outcomes from other gaze coders on the team, alongside results collected from an EEG cap and heart monitor worn by the participants. Georgina thoroughly enjoyed being part of the team and was incredibly grateful for the fantastic opportunity.
